Its about 1400 miles, probably about 22 hours, without a lot of stops.

Mapquest recommends using I-10 to I-20 and in this instance I actually agree with them - I usually don't
I-40 would be a bad choice because of the very real possibility of snow between Ash Fork AZ and Amarillo TX
Mapquest says it's 1450 miles -sounds about right and that it can be driven in 22hrs which of course is 100% wrong . For that to happen you would have to average 65 mph which would place your mean speed somewhere in the mid 80's
Reality : this is the west so you should be able to make El paso -800 miles - if you start early and end late on day 1
Day 2 is 600+ miles into Dallas - still a long day
This is winter which means in order to drive anything over 500 miles a day you must start and end your trip in the dark. Driving in the dark is harder and therefore more dangerous than driving in the light.

Los Angeles, CA to Dallas, TX is 1431 Miles
Average drive time is 29 hours,
If you are going 60 miles an hour all the way you should be able to make it there in about 24 hours... (23.85 hours)

The time it takes to travel this distance will depend on weather and road conditions, driving speeds and stops along the way.

That would depend on how fast and how long you drive - we drove from San Diego to Dallas in 3 days, but we took our time driving. Try mapquest or AAA for more info and AAA can give you a triptix to help not only with directions but also with any "speed traps" and rest stops along the way.

Best of luck in your journey!

If you're going the speed limit and only taking gas and bathroom breaks, figure on 27 hours. If you're driving I-40, be careful going through Tucumcari, NM...major speed traps. If you can take the time for a night stop, stay in Flagstaff, AZ...pretty much midway and highest point on the journey. Be safe.

You could probably do it in 2 1/2 days if you have someone to drive while you sleep.
