We just got new neighbors who tell us they grew up on a deserted farm their entire lives with no neighbors. So anyway i think they're taking advantage of having neighbors and its getting annoying. For example, they moved in 3 weeks ago and so far they've come knocking at our house 5 times asking if they could use some of our sugar, milk, butter, eggs, etc cause they've run out and don't want to drive all the way out to the grocery store. It's really weird. What should I do?
a) Politely tell them to stop asking us to use our food.
b) Sell the house and move away from them
c) Something else?

Tell them your on a tight budget and cant afford to support them. They are taking advantage of your kindness..because they are your neighbors you want to handle it with sas much tact as possible because they might just become unruly neighbors.

Next time they come over to borrow something tell them..."Oh I'm so sorry we are out too. In fact I was just thinking of coming to ask you if we could borrow some." About the third (well from the sound of these people maybe fourth or fifth) time you do this they will take the hint.

I assume it's the lady of the house who is doing the borrowing. I would ask her over some morning for coffee and a chat - maybe even bake something like bread or cookies or bread for her to take home with her. During the chat I would mention that customs in the city differ from those in the country. When people are isolated, they probably feel freer to borrow from others because it is such a long drive to get supplies.
I hope you can resolve the situation tactfully.

You could pretend to not be at home or you could say you are out of said items. That is really weird. My best friend lives a block away and I don't run to her every time I run out of something. They obviously haven't ever lived around anyone if they are taking advantage of you like that.

C) Get back at them when they least expect it go over to their house and ask them for some things that you "ran out of". If you keep doing it they will get the point and stop if not call the net office in your area.

I had a neighbor like that years ago. I finally told her I was nearly out of it myself, or only had enough for our supper, or whatever. If you don't stop it now, it will never end.
You may just have to tell her she will have to learn to buy things so she doesn't run out.
OR you may have to be very blunt with her and tell her you don't like to loan things. If she doesn't like it, what have you lost?

If they grew up on a deserted farm I don't know how they let themselves run out of so much. You could just say you're sorry but, you're out of it too. Or you could start borrowing from them a lot. That might do it.

Report them to the NSA for having large groups of suspicious muslim rallies.
That or post thier address on craigslist.com under "Casual Encounters: M4M"
Either way, they should pack up and leave in no time...

Try A first. If that doesn't work, try C, don't answer the door.
If both fail, go with option B.
Good luck.
