Okay so i dyed my hair blonde and black streaky just for the heck of it. Then i dyed it dark brown (almost black) all over to heal the bleached parts. now I have tried and tried to lighten it up with box color but its not working. My real hair color is kinda dirty blonde. Im scared to use a light color on it for fear that it may turn orange. Im not so good at the box dye thing. But I have about 3 inch roots so the last time I used a box I tried to get a lighter brown...now I have lighter brown 3 inch roots and still dark brown hair...what would you suggest?

Go to a professional stylist. Seriously, all this dyeing isn't good for your hair, and you don't want to keep making mistakes. A professional hair stylist will be able to fix it for you.

You need to visit a salon. You can't just go from a dark color back to blond or light brown for example. They'll put a red type dye on called "filler" so your hair doesn't turn green and then lighten. They will also give you a hot oil treatment to help with any dryness

Your best bet is to now pull it through a frosting cap, with the thought that you have it now all one "basic" color. apply a highlift color approx 2 shades lighter than your own natural color. follow timing per manufacturer being careful to check a small section in lower back for hair tolerance every 10 min. You may have to settle for a highlight instead of the ever so popular slicing effect. Let me know how you turn out...............25 yr hairdresser/product consultant:)

Tough it out at least for 2 months before you end up without any hair. then make an appointment with a licensed hairdresser.

I agree with Megan. I think that you should go to a professional. They will be able to help you. And good luck.
