Am I understanding right that you want to dye the WHITE patch on your black dog red? Anything you use will not show up on the black and NEVER use ammonia based products on a dog which would bleach out the black.

That having been said, if you are looking to dye white fur, red is hard to get, but it can be done. You can use unsweetened Kool-aide, but more than likely you'll get pink.

You can also use children's Blo-Pens. (Totally non-toxic) Blow it on and comb through until you get the desired color. Make sure the dog is dry before you let it run around or the color will get on other things. This is a temporary color, it will wash out after a bath or fade within a couple of weeks.

Manic Panic is a hair dye for humans with nothing in it that will harm your dog. (Lots of people use it, including myself many times without incident) Pillarbox red is the truest red I've found, and even that may take a couple of applications for it to be red and not pink. This is semi-permanent and will take a few weeks to a couple of months to come out.

Simply Paint it on dry, clean hair and let it set for 15-20 min. and rinse until the water runs clear. You may want to contact a groomer to do this for you, as it may get messy.

Here are some pics of dogs done w/ manic panic. Have fun with it!

Don't use hair dye or bleach for humans. If you dye a dogs hair, your run the risk of whatever chemicals are in the box, getting on the skin, and burning it, even to the point of opening up and festering.

Don't do it!

Your safest best is to use kool-aid, and drying it with a hair dryer. Your dog is black, so I don't see that helping much.

Okay, go to the Beauty Supply store or a Party Store and buy a can of Colored Hair Spray.......like they use for Halloween. It just washes out. BUT, be careful when you are spraying it on your dog......Make sure there is proper ventilation and that it does not get in his eyes or mouth.

I painted my dog before. He was so small I just colored him with crayola markers, which is non toxic. It washed off with a couple of baths and he didn't mind all the attention he was given either! I have heard of people dying their pets with hair dye, just as we do. I think it's fine as long as you don't hurt them in the process.
