People like to bash anything they are unfamiliar and uneducated about.

THe word you are looking for is IGNORANCE! Lack of knowledge people do not want to go outside of their comfort zone so they tend to judge other people and think that their way is the right way because they do not want to have to think about wether your way is right. Its like all the things you were taught growing up some was true some was not, as we grow up we see things differently because we live and learn, while others just remain lazy brained and do not even try to figure things out for themselves.

Because they are ignorant, uneducated and foolish, trying to be bold and obedient.
In the end, they are just sorry and ineffectual and lonely souls trying to find their place or way in a place they will never understand.

They are ignorant and want to "save" people from a religion that won't harm anyone. I am Mormon and am so tired of people telling ME that i have several mothers and perform animal sacrifices.

I think it's a basic human being trait...to mock and laugh at everything he/she is ignorant about...
People just need to be more open minded towards others, no matter who they are, or what their religion is

because some people believe that they dont have to educate themself to other things if their own belief speaks about it ... even though in their own belief they are taught wrong on most occasions

it could be that many religious leaders, whatever faith, teach, even unknowingly, that different is wrong, evil, unsaved. you name it, they say it, and the less discerning will take it to the limit and take up the sword to convince others of the god of peace.
