Not trying to be morbid or anything but I knew this veitnam vet once that told me one of the first things out of any Athiest soldier when injured or dying was prayer to God and/or Jesus. Why do you think that is? Do you think they in fact believed in God but lived a life of denial? Do you think the vet exaggerated? Did these soldiers see Jesus just before death? Curious to know what people think.

when i was seventeen i was a very strong and vocal ATHEIST. one day in the summer--i came face to face with a prediciment that required nothing less then a fast miracle! so i prayed "God if you are there--I NEED you NOW"
i turn 60 next week-i can tell you this--that was only the first miracle that i asked for and got--and i would not be here today to write this had i not gotten that instant miracle from God--and i wasnt the only one to witness this--there were others. when i went back to college that following fall--i went back a Christian--no one could belive it and no one could have ever imagined the change in me! sign me "Rev. Karina"

It was my understanding that dying soldiers most often cry out for their mothers, not for any of the gods.

But I also wonder if it's because most atheists are raised with religion. Which is why many will subconciously say tihngs like "oh my god," or "God damn it!". They don't beleive it, it's just creeped into their language after years of hearing it. When they're dying they revert to what they remember as children (when they were safe). So they may call out for mommy, or pray to the god they used to learn about over graham crackers and koolaid at bible studies.

They're not exactly at their most lucid at that point, often are delerious and in shock, so you can't really judge what they truly believe. Hell, maybe they're hallucinating and DO think they see angels or something. Who knows? Well, they know...but they're gone now so we can't ask them.

For the same reason there aren't any athiests in "foxholes". When you are next in the line of "Time's Up." you start thinking about the afterlife...or if there is a such thing. Why take the chance that you have been wrong all your life. At that moment, you think....."If there is a God.....help me now."

By the way....that doesn't work with the Big Guy. But it's nice to see those people that spent their entire life trying to prove His existence false.....somewhat repenting.

You are absolutely right and i have made the point before. When something has happened to you or a loved one an accident, they have been told some bad news about there health etc. The first thing anyone does Atheist or not is ask God to help them. Please God if you are there......Please God just get us through this and i swear.....I believe its because that is our natural state. That there is something inside us so connected to the truth that even non believers in there time of need call on Gods help because they know if anyone He is the one that can do something. They definitely lived in denial before. When push comes to shove they all ask God for help, cause they know in there heart whether they want to believe or not that God does exist.

probably for the same reason that you see an atheist get married..that is an oxy moron of sorts...Hmmm a man who says he does not believe in God ...adhering to a Godly order ordained by God...??

It says alot ..for one thing you need to know there is NO such thing as an atheist.

Everybody is givin the ability to hear and believe...or at best hear and choose.
Choosing is what God desires for us...don't think you can straddle the fence...if you read in Revelations if you are luke warm He will spue you out of his mouth.

Ok where do SO--called atheist come from?
Read the1st chapter of the book of Romans starting at 17th verse I will show you here key verses. look at verses 20 21&22.. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
(let me say this if you look at this world and the creation that God created you must know that there is no way possible that this is by chance. SO we are the things that are made ..we see the created things by him who is invisible)

21.. Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

THIS is the start of a man who at first understood that God existed but choose rather not to believe... then because they held the knowledge of God and did not choose him..they began to create in their minds who they thought God is or was
verse 23 says And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

They made their own Gods..you see an atheist has a God ...it is just not the tru and living God...
God to them might be the sun or the moon..or a dodge ram or a sony playstation or an RCA big screen...or even this computer we talk on...Something has taken Gods place even their own bellies.

For this cause God gave them up to the uncleaness through the lusts of their own flesh verse 24...another words whatsoever made them happy became the source of their joy he allowed them to have it...which resulted in a reprobate mind...and this could be a person who says God does not exist...because they are in denial..they think it is easier to deny him rather than admit He exists and that would cause them to seek him....Kinda like putting your hand up and blocking your view of a thing and then saying it is not there or thinking you are not seen because you can't see him or it

Your unbelief does not change the FACT THAT GOD EXISTS and you need to get your heart right before you leave this life...
Romans 3:3 says For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? NO rather we should become liars than make him a liar(not that you should practice lieing)

Bottom line there is no such thing as an atheist..just an unrepentant sinner using denial as a tactic....Last I remember when our kids use denial as an excuse we know when they are lying and render justice...with love...
God loves us even though we deny him He is not thrilled when someone dies in sin...He will love you till you stand before him...but He will be your judge in the end and render justice..God bless

It's not wise (no offense) to always believe what another person says, especially in matters such as that. It is too easy for someone who disproves of atheists to make that kind of statement. To legitimately believe such a thing, you'd have to see it for yourself. Personally, I've never heard of actual non believers doing that, including family members.

When it is important enough the layers of denial get stripped away - and what is deep in the heart comes to the surface. There is a place longing for God in all of us - because he made us that way.
Why do people say "Oh, my God" or :Godd*mnit" or "Jesus Christ" and it means more? Because deep inside it does - it means more, denial on the surface or not. There is power in the name of God. And many non-believers suppress it so much that they actually believe their denial.
It is the great tragedy of mankind... man also loses God's redemption in buying the evil one's lies.

they are in a moment of absolute weakness, they are terrorfied and in agony, al they have is a shread of hope. at this piont they do not care if it is real or not, they just want help from anyone, anything. some comfort from the terror and agony.

they hated it, being sent to that jungle. you can't see, can't hear nothing. the jungle is thick and never dies. all the noise is deafning and blinded by the limbs of green. knowing at any moment you can die. will the jungle kill me, the enemy, of friendly fire. and who is my enemy, you nask yourself " where is god in this hell". none of them realy came home, some part of them is still in that dam jungle. it hurts , just hurt. we ignor it, but it is still there.

because basically, all human being know that they realize the existence of The Big Power out there. they actually realize that they themselves are restricted, have no power at all. but the problem is...they completely do not want to admit this. but when the death are close to them, thing that is absolutely scary, they who do not have power at all then accept it: the fact that God is available.
one who stands him/herself are totally weak. there must be something that more powerfull out there, God...Allah SWT

Because when it comes down to it many people would admit that they don't want to go to hell. If they spend their whole life disbelieving in God when they die they have to be curious if the whole heaven/hell thing is true.
