Isn't the original belief in a higher power have to do with fear of the unknown (like the cave next rock) and the fear of death with nothing to follow?

Yes, and no.
Yes they would still believe in God, and no, the original belief in a higher power does not have anything to do with the fear of death, it has to do with common sense.

Most likely they would believe in a god with different properties - one that would account for good or bad fortune and regulate good or bad behavior. And it would also depend on why people in this example had no fear of death - would it be because they will never die, or because that fear just wasn't built into them? In the latter instance, they would have to have been born into a world with no danger, and where others had nothing to gain from your death.
None of these scenarios are bloody likely, but in any case, the nature of their perceived god would be altered accordingly.

Believing in God allows you to have no fear of death. Yes some of God is unknown but there is a spiritual death and a physical death. I assure you that people that believe in God have a fear of spiritual death while they may not fear physical death. Physical death is nothing to worry about. Everyone will die sometime(unless you are alive when Jesus returns) so spiritual death is what you want to be scared of.

Anything unknown is dark, and darkness causes fear because there is no light (knowledge). Most of the religious preachings are based on life after death, its all about heaven and hell. Fear of death makes him believe in God. If a person is spiritual he has no fear of death, because he believes he is part of existence......Hinduism honors the light wihin...Namaste!

I think they would believe in it more because the true God is freedom from fear. I think the fear keeps people away from real spirituality and thats why they become brainwashed religionists. But if they had less fear they would be authentic spiritual people and truly practice that which now they only preach.

I don't believe in god because I fear death, I believe in God because I fear eternal hell (damnation).
