No. I got mine done at a doctors surgery (to please my mum as she said that would be much more hygienic). The doctor gave me a local anesthetic so it completely numbed the area. I didn't feel a thing, and afterwards it was only tender for a day or so. Not excruciating pain at all. Very tolerable. And it's given me no trouble ever since (this was about 10 years ago). Best of luck!

*Navel not belly, and most of the initial jewelry is a curved barbell (aka banana bell) not a ring

And I felt something (which goes the same for all piercings), but I can tell you that it was tolerable and it was not that bad. Everyone is different, I speak for myself. I have 6 navel piercings, the worst ones where those I did myself after becoming a piercer.

Keep in mind its a quick pain and most of the 'pain' comes later. You have to clean it, avoid playing with it and laying on your stomach for a while. Most pain comes from getting an infection and having it bumped around while it is still fresh. So be careful, take care of your piercing and good luck.

A little...I mean a needle is piercing your skin...you're going to feel it...take your fingernails and pinch the upper part of your belly button as hard as you can for a count of 3, then let go...the piercing doesn't feel any worse than that (in my opinion) and stops hurting just as quickly...however when you bump it into things, you'll know it's there (not so much a pain, as just a strong sensation)...

You have to be diligent about keeping it clean and following your aftercare instructions...don't change it too early...and realize it can take up to a year to heal completely...the navel is one of the slowest to heal piercing points...

I've had mine for at least 5 yrs now though...never regretted getting it...

Make sure you get it done professionally and you shouldnt have any problems. If they put the clamp on there tight enough you probably wont even feel the needle go through. I didnt feel mine at all. Make sure you take care of it once its done or the infection will hurt and look liek something off of the sci fi channel. lol good luck girl!

I've had mine peirced 3 times! (I had to remove it when I got pregnant). This last time I peirced it myself w/ a peircing kit I bought on ebay. It hurts......a little but not severly. If you get it done in a shop it is over so quickly you won't even realize they even did it. It will be uncomfortable for a day or two. Keep it clean and it will be fine soon.

Of course there is a little pain, but its nothing big. Keep it clean for a couple weeks and you wont regret it. I've had mine for 4 years and don't even notice it until summer, then you can change it to make it look good with your bathing suits! Good luck!

Not especially, I thought my earlobes hurt worse. Kind of feels awkward, like the feeling when you get poked in the navel, not [pain, but woeird.

The initial pain is nothing...the clamp they put on your skin hurts more than the needle, but the next few weeks are painful.
