Cats can go into heat as early as four months of age; most will have their first heat at about six months of age. You will probably not see any blood because they keep themselves so clean (and there isn't a lot of blood involved to begin with) but what you will notice is the behavior--they meow a LOT and assume a mating stance. They also might try to get outside, so be careful when you open doors and windows. The heat lasts a week or so and then will repeat itself in a few weeks. As the days get shorter, the cat will go into heat less and less often, and in the late winter and spring, when the days are getting longer, start going into heat again.
For the person who wants to get their cat spayed but it's $100--you could call your local humane society and see if there are any low-cost programs in your area.
And for everyone with an unspayed cat or dog--take her to a vet immediately if she starts acting like she doesn't feel well during or after a heat cycle, or if you see pus coming from her vulva--unspayed animals can get uterine infections, which can be a surgical emergency and kill your pet if left untreated.
Good luck!

Hi there...Estrus (heat) in the queen (female cat) is defined as the time during the reproductive cycle when she displays interest in mating.
Domestic cats usually reach sexual maturity (puberty) between 5 to 12 months, at which time they experience their first estrus. The adult cat is seasonally polyestrus, cycling repeatedly (about every two to three weeks) throughout the breeding season (mid-January to August), unless interrupted by pregnancy or illness. Several major phases compose the estrous cycle, and variations in the level of normal circulating hormones contribute to these different phases.
Proestrus – the period that precedes estrus when males are attracted to nonreceptive females
Estrus – the period of breeding, also known as being “in heat”
Diestrus – the period following mating
Anestrus – the period of reproductive quiescence; the queen has no attraction to or from the male.
Nonestrous – the period of hormonal inactivity
What to Watch For
Frequent vocalization or moaning
Restlessness
Frequent urination
Rolling around
Rubbing the body against objects
Receptivity to the male
Here's a website which go through all the details of the feline estrus (heat) cycle: when, how long, etc: http://www.vetmed.lsu.edu/eiltslotus/Theriogenology-5361/filne_e.htm

Between 8 months to a year old and then will go into heat usually once or twice a year, depending on the cat.
It is an awful production when they do go in heat. Lots of meowing and carrying on. It is well worth the money to get the cat fixed as it will prevent messes, and more unwanted kittens in the world.

Usually 4 to 7 months after they are born. They go into heat for about a month or two then its over until the next 4 to 7 months after their birthday.

Cats go into heat when they aren't fixed. Get the cat spayed and it won't be a problem.

you cant tell but but they do get in heat when they are about four years old so if the cat is leaving little blood dots around the house put it in something like a cage or even the basement but don`t forget they stay that way for at least six to seven months and you need to remember this stuff
