Your home is where your heart is. If that is where one's heart is then it is a very rational thing. I have often thought of doing the same thing myself. It would be better if the moble home is paid for and the gas or diesel prices were much lower.
But still a great idea.

I could totally do something like that I think. It's a completely rational desire to want to see the country with the comforts of home. Although it presents some danger, many people in their retirement years live happy lives in their motor homes.

I have had a couple of relatives do just that. They all got tired of it after a couple of years. It is a great way to see the country, paying attention to weather and traffic. Of course the down side is fuel prices these days and dispite claims none are fuel efficient. Some have a small car they tow along but no backing up when hooked on. lots of camp ground available. the alternatives might be cars touring with motels or hospice, takes a lot of planning to be economical. By the way when the 2007 models hit the market with the new diesel engines cost will go up 3 to 10k each and even less fuel mileage. And diesel is the only way to go and do your self a favor and learn to drive one before buying. good luck and happy trails

Absolutely rationally!!
In fact, I did this 3 years ago ... sold my home, 90 % of what was in it, my cars, bought a fifth wheel and a 3/4 ton pickup truck, and hit the road!! it was great!!
I am now apt bound for a few years, but we use the fifth wheel on weekends and holidays/vacations, and will be fulltiming again in 3 years or less.
It's a great life! We are only taking a break from it now for immigration purposes, once I have perm res status in canada, we will hit the road again.
Of course, you have to have a bit of a gypsy spirit to be content in this kind of life, and you must really enjoy the company of your partner/spouse if you are traveling together in these tight quarters!!

this is not risky to stay/artwork/bypass to Cambodia till you do stupid issues like walk around interior the mine fields that have not been cleared yet. The Khmer Rouge won the civil conflict 30 years in the past and their terror regime ended while Vietnam intervened. The UN has poured billions and billions of greenbacks into the country for the period of the final decade and human beings not roam around interior the streets donning AK-47s. get for the period of the final and end stereotyping. particular, Cambodia is a 'third international united states' whether it somewhat is a appealing one with outstanding human beings ... besides, this is in basic terms in particularly few third international international places human beings run around kidnapping one yet another, so the place do you get those perceptions from?

I thought about doing that. If I could afford it I probably would (I'm well below my retirement years) I think there's nothing better than going out and seeing the world. I chose the second best option - working for an airline.

I don't think I could do that. I love to have a place I call home. Maybe because my hubby was military and we traveled a lot then. Now I really enjoy knowing I don't have to leave this place anymore. Plus my kids made friends they don't want to leave. So no, not for me.

My husband and I had thought about doing that when we sold our home, but didn't. Sometimes I wish we had. I don't think its a matter of acting rational or irrational, it's a matter of what suits you and your needs.
