The thing is that even if she appears to be a purebred GSD, she may not be. My friend has a black lab that looks 100% lab, but it's puppy sibling looked just like a GSD. One never knows for sure unless the parents are known. I understand your curiousity - a good option might be to use petfinder to look at all different GSD type mixes and see if you can find one similar. Good luck and congrats on the rescue! You've saved a life! : )

I also think she's probably "mostly purebred", but it really is hard to tell at this age. I thank the poster who pointed out the stack photo in the snow, because that nice side shot is the most purebred-looking shot in the bunch. I think it will be more clear as she gets older, but she's a beautiful little girl, at any rate.
I would like to respectfully disagree with the poster who said that pups from the shelter are not likely to be purebred. Pups from the shelter are unlikely to be show quality purebred puppies, but as a volunteer with the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue, I can sadly promise that an astounding number of beautiful purebred dogs and their offspring do indeed end up in the shelter. In our rescue alone, we have people pulling them into foster care every week and we still can't hope to get them all before their euthanization dates.

I highly doubt you could get a purebred for $350 (dpending on what breed, if it is from a pet store I would say no, if it doesn't have papers then you cant tell however if it looks mixed then is most likely is because dogs of the same breed will look alike and have small differences from dog to dog but never overly obvious characteristics, I hope I helped!

At her age, it's hard to tell. The standing ears make her look like a GSD.
But best bet is, if you rescued her from an ordinary shelter/rescue, that wasn't a Purebred Rescue, then she's probably not purebred.
Looks a lot like this dog, who was labeled as "Mostly GSD".

From the looks, she probably is a mixed breed, but GSD sure seems to be predominant!

I believe she is a full-bred GSD, but until she's fully developed, you won't be able to tell for sure.
Our GSD's ears didnt stand on their own without wobbling around until she was around 8 months old. The picture of her standing in the snow is a GREAT pic to demonstrate her stance, conformation and coloring, and this is the pic I based my opinion on mainly.
Were you able to get info on her breeding/parentage/lineage?
Is she possibly tattooed or microchipped? Sometimes breeders put this info on puppies to identify them later on.
Great looking dog !

Your little Sunkist is SOOOO cute. I love all of your pictures, really good shots. A dog to be proud of!!!! She does look like she could be a German Shephard. Time will tell!! She is a keeper no matter what breed she is.

she's so cute. you'll know more as she gets older, but i think she is a full GSD. her ears are the indicator. i had a friend who had a full GSD, except one ear flapped. everything else was pure GS. just watch her for hip displaysia. GSD's are known for hip problems. keep her at a healthy weight, and well taken care of, and she'll be fine. good luck, she is adorable!

Yeah, I see why you are unsure. In some photos I would say definitely and in others I think mutt. I would say she is a GSD. Just a guess.
