what is the best travel itenerary from gatwick to torquay?

i arrive gatwick at 9am 12/13. want to travel by train to torquay and return gatwick 12/20 by 9 am.

train from gatwick to reading, then change to train to newton abbot, and change there for torquay. leaving gatwick just after 10 and arriving 2.30pm.

you'll have a bit of trouble on the way back tho, first train from torquay to gatwick doesn't arrive there till 9.55am
