at 5 weeks old she is incapable of holding her bladder and bowels. Clean up after her and say nothing. Never ever punish the pup for it. No shouting, smacking, nose rubbing etc. Would you do the same to a baby human who was still in nappies?
You can get into the habit of taking her outside every hour, as soon as she wakes up and after every meal. If she happens to go, praise her like mad. If she doesn't still praise her and take her indoors. This will start her in the habit of being outside and once she is able to control her bowels and bladder more, she will be more inclined to go outside. You have to take her out though, not put her out. Stay with her and try using a command word or phrase like "hurry up", "be quick", "weewee". Use this word if you see her going to the toilet while you are outside. USe it calmly and quietly because if you sound too excited while she is going, she will stop going and run to you in excitement. So use it calmly and get excited once she has finished. Tell her she is the most cleaver dog in all the world, no other dog is half as clever, her poo is the most fragrant, pretty poo and her wee is the best in the world. It won't take long, once she is able to control herself in say 5 or 6 weeks timer, that she will start going to the toilet when you take her out and use the word, simply because she wants you to praise her.
I have 8 dogs, all but one is a rescue. All are now trained to a command word. When I take them out and ask them to "hurry up and wee wee" they will screw their faces up and squeeze out 2 drops for me even if they didn't need to go". It makes life easier because if you are in a hurry and need to put them in while you go out, you can open the door, use the command and know they they are empty when you shut them in the house. I find it very useful since I always have at least one dog in the car with me when I go to poultry shows. I make a quick stop somewhere and use the word and they will immediately piddle and then get back in the car so that we can carry on driving. Otherwise they might start to fidget and want a wee in a place where it isn't safe to stop like a motorway and their fidgeting and whining could distract you while you are driving.

Crate train the wee thing. That means any time you won't be there to supervise the pup, it gets put in a crate. Then when you take it out of the crate, immediately take it outside. When the puppy does its business, make a big fuss about what a cleaver dog it is. Then you can play with it in side for a while.

When your pup messes on the floor it is YOUR fault, not the dog's. Remember, your dog has no concept of a mortgage, carpeting, etc. So, watch for the signs that the dog needs to go out - sniffing the floor, circling, etc. And when you can't supervise, pop the pup in the crate.

When the puppy wakes up from a nap, always take it out right away too.

I have housetrained dozens of dogs, and this method works very well. We can usually have a puppy trained in about 7 to 10 days.

You can buy training mats from any good pet shop, they come in different sizes and are like a nappy that you put on the floor. Every time your puppy has a drink, eats or wakes up, put him on the mat. He will soon learn to go to the mat by him self, then you move the mat in stages until it is outside.

We house trained a 3 month old Dalmatian that had had no previous training in under a week.

You must remember to gently chastise if the puppy doesn't use the map and go over the top with praise and give the dog a treat every time it gets it rite.

As well as crate training - which sorts out the problem indoors - use target traiing. You have a special spot in the back yard, mark it with planks or brocks so pup can see it. Take her there first thing in the morning, after you feed her, and on the hour every hour. Wait with her. At some point she has to go, then you reward her.

Crate training works because healthy dogs won't soil their own bed. Target training works because it shows them where you DO want them to go.
You wouldn't leave a baby crawling round unsupervised without a nappy on!

Put news paper or P 'or' P mat where your pup deposits Her P 'or' P. When you start getting direct hits praise the pup. when you have a miss take pup to the target zone and plonk it on the mat (try to explain) (i know its hard)
When you get direct hits most of the time slowly move the target
Metre by metre to where you want her to go (Garden)(outside somewhere).
Have Patience (and disinfectant) :-)

take her outside very half an hour and give her a small treat when she does her business. make sure you stick to it. ignore any accidents in the house cos its not her fault when she gets better at going out let her wait a bit longer like taking her out every 40min and so on. it worked for me my dog was well trained in about a month but with the occaisional accident.good luckx

Stop calling the poor dog 'Sweetie' for a start, I expect that has given her the fu*cking sh*its.
