If Sister Wicked Stick was still around I would be in big trouble for not having the exact date...

According to this source, Catholics are still supposed to abstain from meat on Fridays. It was in 1983 that new regulations were passed that resulted in many Catholics no longer abstaining from meat on Fridays.

For those of us who think that it was (and still IS) proper to abstain from meat on Fridays....we *never* changed the rule.

I am a Traditional Anglican, and this is still our rule. I still practice this...and I inform my parish every week that "Friday is a day of abstinence."

I know many traditional Roman Catholics who do the same.
