How is the swedish language traced into Proto-Indo European? And what other language came before Swedish?

Swedish is part of the eastern germanic off-shoot of teutonic languages. Interestingly, there are only about 80,000 words in Swedish that are actually Swedish in origin; everything else is borrowed mostly from English (which has a bit of Old Norse) and French.
