Overall, you're doing pretty well with your photography. I LOVE LOVE the b&w with the splashes of color. Mind if I comment on some specific photos? I like "Water." The stream leads your eye into the picture. "Blue Sky" has great composition, but the face is a little dark. Can you lighten up just the face a bit? Next time consider a fill-in flash. "Ride a Bike" is awesome! I love it, but can you maybe clone out the tire from the other bike? It's a bit distracting. "Woods 6" is my favorite of all the portraits. The lighting is wonderful. LOVE "Horseshoe." In "Street 2" and "Street 3" there's no real focus, so it doesn't keep my interest very long. Overall, really good. You should consider joining a digital photo group online. I'm in a Yahoo! photo group called "Better Digital Photography." Head on over there and tell them december_roses sent you.

Honestly... a few of the pics are not bad at all... (of course they are the ones that don't need too much help to be good)... basically, I think that considering your age, you are on the right road. Take a few classes, they really do help. Maybe go to the library and get a few books on photography and they might even have a video or two. The most important part is to not get discouraged and to do take the steps foreward.

I think as an amatuer you have real potential. Just keep shooting and the more you shoot the better you will get. Read books on the subject of photography. Take a class if you can afford it. Talk to professionals. I go into the Special Interests: Photography Chat on AOL and lots of pros frequent there. They have been a big help to me. And I've read several books on the subject as well. It won't hurt to get a good Photo program for your computer, if you don't already have one. I use Photoshop and lots of pros do. It isn't user friendly, though. You will have to learn how to use it. Good luck and most importantly have fun!

You certainly have a good eye for composition. The guy who asked about "powerlines" needs to view this question, as you have that concept down very well. My only criticism lies with the equipment or post-processing. With the strong lines in your images, I'd rather not see so much evidence of distortion and much of it looks like it woud be easy to correct. When you get some money, you'll look into a top quality lens with less barrel distortion, okay? Great, great start, though. Keep it up.

As a fellow photographer who currently has a photography business and website, I would have to say you have a good start in the right direction. Considering your age, you have the time for considering continuing education - if photography is what you have in mind for a career.
As for your question, "Am I doing a somewhat good job in photography?", I would have to answer - yes....
Good luck with persuing your love of photography!

Ironically my lady friend was looking over my shoulder, saw your question, beat me up so she could see it. She has been a professional photographer over twenty years, has her own gallery in Arizona.
Her opinion (I don't let her use my computer, she'll screw it up): Her opinion is you have a good eye for angles. Try to practice with the way sunlight affects the same pics. Practice getting people in shots when they don't know you are there. She is self taught. Go for it !!! Good luck.

I think your doing a wonderful job in expressions. Try stepping out of the box, and be a little more creative, especially with spontaneity.

You seem to have the eye for it, but I would suggest that your work is still a bit stiff. Break it up; try angles that you normally wouldn't think of. Just keep at it.

From one artist to another! You're work is fabulous!! You're doing a wonderful job... but remember... always think twice, if you come up with the same answer twice then you're doing it right!
