People can become addicted to anything including religion. I don't think that they can become addicted to God, but rather to their view of God, etc. And for the fellow who said all former Atheist on here were once drug uses, I was once an Atheist and I have never used drugs. It might be true for some who are in AA or NA, but it is better than what they did before. I think that God might allow someone to come to him that way, but as they grow in His grace I think that they probably come to know the real God and have a healthy relationship with Him as opposed to an obsession.

I don't know if I get high, but after meditation I sometimes feel like nothing matters and that I can get through anything that is happening in my life. This can happen even if prior to meditating I felt like everything in my life was chaotic and I wanted to quit my job or smack my boss. I also feel this way whenever I do something I enjoy, such as talking to my boyfriend or walking my dog in the woods. Perhaps people addicted to drugs (no matter what the drug) just don't have anything else that feels good.

You are comparing a relationship with God to smoking cigarettes? Who is to say the reason the person dropped into a 'mild depressive state'. She is not harming her body by reading scripture and praying, as she would by smoking cigarettes.

No but I do think it's possible to get addicted to a fantasy. It's so much easier than living your real life.

The Christians on here who claimed to be former atheists always say that they were former drug addicts.
Seems to me that they traded one destructive addiction for another.
