WHO DON"T WANT TO THERMALLY OR CHEMICALLY STRAIGHTEN THEIR HAIR.
I also posted this society and culture. Limited responses. I wonder why?

Please remember. People with kinky/nappy hair generally just can't use a curling iron to curl our hair. The hair has to be pressed with a CHI iron or a hot comb first or relaxed with lye and then curled with a curling iron.

Inquisitive 1, I posted the question because I've decided not to relax my hair anymore. I'm going to braid and cornrow my hair until I have enough for a Afro. Most of the people who've said that cornrows were not professional were not people of color and black people who act like showing your nappy hair is a sin against God.
Yes, the white people at my job make comments. It's to be expected. There are only 3 black people in the building and 2 of them are on the cleaning staff. I don't care.
I was really wondering what white people thought were professional hairstyles for black women who didn't straighten their hair.

It's my experience that braid-outs and twist-outs only look good for 3 days max, less than that if you work out.

Screw getting a new hairstyle! I'd opt for a new job! That's what is so great about being in the beauty industry...no one EVER tells you how to wear your hair!
But seriously, you could opt for a very short, tightly cropped style and just wash and wear it natural.

I'm having the same stuggle. I want to cut all of the relaxed hair out and go natural but I don't like the way I look with really short hair, so I will have to grow it out to a certain length and come up with natural styles.
I was thinking of the braid thing. Cornrows or single braids while I let my hair grow out. The thing is I work in a really professional environment and mostly white and they alway smake comments and ask questions like. Is that clean? How can you keep your hair clean with them in for so long. No one has come out and said it's unprofessional but I feel weird because of all of the comments and looks. I ended up just getting a perm and wet setting my hair and now everybody is like...Oh your hair is so cute, your hair is so long. That goes to show that they didn't approve of the braids.
Here is a site that my sister told me about you can use these products to bring out the natural curl.

When I had loose nappy hair I'd wear it in a pony puff almost daily..
I'd slick it down with water or mango butter, apply a scarf or headband, and let the rest of my hair just poof out in the back..
You can do a protective style like 2 strand twists for a week or so, then take it down for a bangin twistout.
flat twists in the front with the back in a puff or 2 strand twists
Just wear your afro neatly shaped - TWA .. wash n go
I've been wearing locks myself for the last year.. I work in a very professional enviromnent and my hair always looks very neat and clean.

you can slap some hair oil and some gel in your hair to make a neat ponytail. you can twist it in the front and curl it in the back or let it go natural in the back. you can do single braids with instentions. you can wear an afro. you can dread it. cut it real low in to a nice shape or dress it up with a fashionable scarf but not a scarf that you would wear to bed at night.

I personally think cornrows are fine, but a lot of people would accept short hair, or lots of long braids.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful...

i'm white, i became my hair ever day or another day. in certain situations washing hair common dries it out. some women people have not stumbled on the vast different shampoo varieties at your community supermarkets, and in simple terms %. up any previous shampoo. the position various of alternative women people use intense priced shampoo designed only for his or her hair varieties. all of it boils right down to......It relies upon on the lady.

I love the braidout and twist out hairstyles. The only problem I have with braids are the big ones. They look real ghet in my opinion.

French braids, a flipped up-out layered hair do (pomade and curling iron is all you need for that one.) If you're going to be professional, you have to do something.
