Very likely the job will be botched unless you have the right tools and magnifier to do the repair...then it's buy a new appliance time. Also, it's only temporary because saliva dissolves super glue after a few weeks. (3 months maximum).

Much experience fixing other peoples fixes...would you believe I've even had people come in who'd repaired dentures with JB Weld and were wearing them!!! (highly toxic!)

Yes you can repair it (or bandage it until you can have it repaired by a lab tech) just make sure you position it exactly the way it was. If you bent the wire when it broke then it will shift your teeth. They make a surgical grade of super glue for positioning graphs in the mouth. After it dries it is not toxic. If the retainer is fairly old just have a new one made.

I don't know but you can't put that back in your mouth afterwards. Its cant be healthy to swallow the glue. If it is broken are damaged you have to go back to the ortho to get new ones. Fixing it yourself is not wise. It can tighten it or loosen it causing it to shift your teeth and therefore defeating the purpose. You might even have to go back into braces to correct it.

first of all...why do you need to put super glue on your retainer? if it snapped, you need it replaced.
