I kept thinking of the verse that goes 'all have sinned and come short of the glory of God' Rom 3:23. as well as Rom 5:12. And then there is Lev 18:22, which condemns homosexuality in the strongest terms, couple this with Rev 21:27, and none of them get to go to heaven. Also Rev 12:14; 14:17, which tells me that we do not have to sin; as a saint by definition is one who does no sin.

So you and your church believe what is written in Leviticus? Then you need to read this:
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination?
7. Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle- room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I think most religious views based on homosexuality are based on Adam & Eve. A man and woman should share a bed, not 2 men or 2 women. Personally, I don't care. Don't push homosexual ways on me or my children and I will have no reason to degrade or badmouth you. I do think, however that ALL people should keep their Public Displays of Affection to a minimum. I hate walking around with my kids and seeing 2 guys kissing like it's their last day on earth. It makes me feel uneasy because now i have to explain it to my 4 and 5 year olds. It's just as bad seeing a man and Woman do it too.

You're more in line with the "Love thy neighbor as thyself" commandment than most christians are when it comes to gay people. I'm an atheist, but I'll give you points for trying to adhere to the tenets of christianity where most just give lip service.
"love the sinner, hate the sin" is a pantsload of crap.
Love the christian, hate the christianity.:-)

I appreciate your follow up. It is clear that you, unlike many of our fellow Christians, have a compassionate heart. I agree with you that just because something feels right does not mean it is morally right.
That said, I encourage you to meet some people who are gay. You might find that they, like you and I, are concerned about moral values and proper behavior. You might also find that, contrary to what some believe, most of them, like my brother, did everything they possible could to NOT be gay, then eventually realized that, unlike being an alcoholic, being gay is not something you can rid yourself of (only suppress).
I wish you the best. peace

That was a little wordy to follow ... I think you are saying Christians do not have the right to mistreat homosexuals even if they believe their practice of homosexuality is a sin. I have to agree because we are not given the right to judge or administer punishment. We are commanded to love others as we love ourselves.

Yes I agree with you. You should look into the Unity school of Christianity, they teach a metaphysical type of Christianity who's whole focus is omnipresent good or a merciful healing creator.

I agree with your opinion of homosexuality but not on your opinion of god. christianity is not the only answer, but it's a good one because at least this religion now practices peace--but look at america with our war and our heroes and our movies about courage and god on our side morality. religion, i find, separates people and we need to rely on god to bring us together. we might do well to get rid of religion, churches with their political interests, and what we see as heroism. heroes are people who work in soup kitchens, aid the sick, and do good in the world--not football players or soldiers.

I'm an unbeliever, but I do agree with you on the points concerning how a homosexual should be treated. A person is a person, no matter their race, creed, or sexual identity, and should be treated humanely.

Where did you even get the idea that Christians HATE homosexuals? Or prostitutes? Quite the contrary, Christians love them so much that they are trying desperately to save them from their sins and final destruction. The problem is that homosexuals flaunt their sin and have no desire to turn away form it. And not only that, they DEMAND the right to teach my 7-year-old son that his father is a bigot!
