No, I think that's normal You pray, you get hope, that is cool. I used to feel like that... I always felt the support form Heaven.. But after some time, my life became more and more sad... And it is hard now to believe in prayer...

Jesus prayed, "Not my will, but yours be done." We should do the same. I'm only 15, and don't have a boyfriend. I am pretty religious too, and sometimes I feel that I may be called to be a nun. I pray whenever I think about that for the Holy Spirit to guide me to the vocation God wants from me. We have to pray not my will, but yours be done, O God!
I know it's hard to think about not having a family or a husband, but I have seen young, beautiful nuns who are happier than any person I've seen. People tend to think of nuns as ugly old ladies who are always praying the rosary and locked behind bars. This is not true in real life. It's a stereotype.
God Bless! I'll pray for you and your vocation!
Please pray for me too!

What exactly you are not happy about? It seems that you need to trust God and have faith and be patient.... maybe this might eliminate the unhappiness you feel when you go outside into the world. As for the nun thing, Its called being religious Hun... When you pray to God you get that feeling of peace and contentment. Yeah, its normal. But you got to stop thinking negative about your faith, because you become easily sidetracked by what the outside world feels.. p.s NUNS HAVE FUN TOO!!

Outside of that you are living in this world. No wonder you aren't so happy. Just keep praying, reading and believing. God can work through others besides nuns.

This is the problem with most religious persons, they are all depressed and live with guilt. Religion is supposed to make you find happiness. When you spend all the time working on the rituals of the religion you feel you are closer to god but you are no where closer to God. Life is religion speaking. Live your life first to understand all good virtues. Life offers you all the difficulties and sticking to the right path is the hardest. Your ethics have to be your own for it to be inbuilt. We may know god loves honest people but to be honest is very difficult, inspite of all the difficulties you still choose to be honest is a victory. So live a life, have a boyfriend, and do what you want to do based on who and what you choose to be, your choices are the expressions of your true being. When you follow truely it becomes your divine expression and all divine expressions are godly. Look at life in reality. God talks to us in every experience we face, and listen to the silent meaning. That is god's whisper.

Well, I say you can serve God without being a nun. Is your bf the same religion as you, is he as "religious" as you? If not, maybe you need a different bf. Or try to change the current one. You will not be happy with a husband who is not the same as you-religiously speaking.

There are plenty of devout people who aren't nuns. Devout means serious believers who have more than just a casual prayer practice. You have a gift, a spiritual heart. Keep praying and ask God about it. You will find your way.

Sounds very much like addiction. I have no doubts that certain people can become addicted to religious practices. These sorts of practices can lead to a change in brain chemistry that can lead to withdrawl symptoms. It's much like the skydiver who needs to push the limits and go bigger every time because his body craves the adrenaline rush.
It would be very interesting to see a study on this phenomena... i wonder if any have been done.

I think that is really great! Do you think God may be calling you into the ministry in some capacity? It's something you might want to pray about and consier.

I don't know if you can become a nun or not. You can dedicate yourself to God regardless.
