Specific fish oils (herring, salmon, menhadden) can have a wonderful effect on skin and coat problems, especially scratching and chewing. As far as a dosage goes, we follow the lowest human dose on these types of fish oils from say, Walmart or a health store. Alternately, you can look at 2 products, both world renowned for alleviating skin and coat problems in dogs and cats. One is called "Sasha's Blend" and is available only through veterinarians, another is called "Dr. Maggies" and you can find that at small independent better pet shops and feed stores. You can look either of these products up online and learn about dosage and results. Best Wishes K

My poor Piper has been scratching furiously for about 3 weeks .I went to a health food store and bought Ultra Omega soft gels . It has fish oil, flax seed oil , and borage oil in the gels .I've also been using Benedryl for her scratching.Between both of the treatments i've seen a noticeable difference in how much she's been scratching.A lot less. She's getting a lot of relief.
