My parents won't let me have a cell phone and they're not poor or anything but even my friend who slept on the couch for how long has a cellphone and my parents aren't mean!

No maybe if you show your parents that you are responsible and maybe work to get a togo phone that you have to prepay and help around the house to get money and help neighbors with yardwork. If you do good maybe your parents will get you a plan. Thats how my children earned theirs

When parents have the courage to say no to giving you STUFF that is totally unnecessary, it is the real way to let you know how much they love you.
You don't mention your age, so I am assuming you are under 18. If your over 18 you can get your own.
Many generations lived without phones and all of the electronics of today. Plus the kids made better grades and came out of school more educated. So I would say their judgment is right on. YOU DON'T NEED ONE.
Good for you parents, I am proud to hear there are parents out there with backbone.
Not to mention, since you don't pay the bills, you really don't know what the household financial situation is. Why take on unneeded bills??

It really depends on how old you are, and what you would need a cell phone for. I am sure they are not trying to be mean, they have their reasons. You should not think that you should have things just because everyone else has one. And many parents these days are giving their children things they do not need and because they feel guilty because they do not spend enough time with them. This is not a good thing. Trust your parents they probably have a good reason why they will not allow you to have one right now. God bless****

Parents that are "nice" to their kids are hurting them in the long run. The real world is no playground. He who spares the rod spoils the child. You have to be able to take care of yourself by the time you are on your own, and it is your parents job to teach you to do so. Maybe they do not want you to be as easy as the rest of the friends you have or something. Do not be mad at them. Make some money and then pay for your own phone...that'll show them something at least. Like you are becoming mature enough to do it for yourself. I don't mean to be mean or anything. Just trying to help with the truth.

Actually, your parents are doing you a favor. If you want a cell phone, make some money and get your own. You will learn responsibility and feel good about yourself. Your other friends won't learn this important lesson.

I personally like my kid's having cell phones, I like the fact of being able to get ahold of them at any given time!
Also, when my daughter was in a car accident she was able to call 911 from her phone. They can be very use full at times.

My parents wont let me have 1 either and its o, they have a reason, my parents said there is no reason for one that all we need 1 for is in emergencies, that is the truth so im over it.

your parents aren't srict . They just think that a cell phone is not for you . maybe they don't think they can trust you . Don't worry you will get a cellphone one day. ( maybe show them that you deserve a cell)
