My friend recently got a tattoo that says "Sola Cristos". He claims that it's Latin meaning "only Christ". I believe him about the meaning, but I don't think that the grammar is correct. Is the grammar correct? Is that the correct meaning?

That may be the correct meaning, but not in Latin - it should say "Solum Christus" to be correct. Cristos is definitely a Spanish spelling for Christ, but I believe it should say "Solo Cristos" to be correct in Spanish. My Spanish is very rusty, but I looked it up and the adverb is solo.
The problem is that when people ask for something in Latin, many people assume the asker is actually referring to Spanish (the language of the majority of Latin America). You see this here on Answers a lot - people ask for a Latin translation, and without fail someone will respond with, "Don't you mean Spanish?" and then they give a Spanish translation.

Cristo or Christ in latin is Christus, the spell is wrong, christós is in greek, but if help in something, Cristo is spanish....so im sorry is wrong.
Sola also doesent mean only, mean JUST.. i dont know who help him.

Well, it is correct, even though Cristos is also spelled Christos most of the time. But, it's all ok. lol.
