My sister informed me yesterday that you burn 150 calories everytime you hit your head on something. My first thought was that it was completely ridiculous but after further thought, it seemed possible but in the form of energy transfer. Any thoughts on the plausibility of this?

When you hit your head, cells get damaged, so more of your body's energy has to be used up in order to repair the cells. You can't lose calories by energy transfer between your head and whatever you hit it on, because calories are stores chemically and require chemical reactions to be released.

It just kills brain cells. Maybe that burns calories because you'd have to think twice as much but not worth the trouble...

Don't take that 2nd half of it literally..just a thought.

all the blood rushing and healing of cells probably takes energy (calories) but I definitely don't think it is going to be the next diet craze.

If it sounds like a good idea to you I think a good therapist would be a better choice for achieving your objective.

I don't think I've ever seen an overweight headbanger, but still, I don't think that's true.
