She should go to the dentist tomorrow...if possible. Her toothache could be a number of different problems.

If her face is swollen, she has an abcess. This is an infection that needs immediate attention. A root canal, and crown are necessary for this tooth.

This could be as simple as sinsusitis. Sometimes if you have sinus issues it may feel as though you have a toothache. This is because of the pressure in the sinus cavity pushing on the teeth.

In any case....tell her to take ibuprofen ( 3-4 tablets). This is an anti-inflamatory. In her case it is OK to take more than suggested on the bottle.

Do not rinse with peroxide! Peroxide is known to cause more damage than good. Especially if there is an infection present.

Rinse with a solution of salt and warm water. This will decrease bacterial content. Tell her to rinse after eating and in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Don't apply any cold compresses, just in case there is an infection. Try using a warm compress on the area in question.

Clove oil is an excellent suggestion, as well. Eugenol is a seditive used by dentists. Apply the clove oil (after drying the area with a piece of gauze) directly to the area in question. Please avoid applying to the gums though. This may irritate or burn them.

The last thing you can do is....try a topical anesthetic, such as, Oragel. Dry the area with gauze and then apply a small amount to the gums and tooth. A little goes a long way!

If the tooth hurts then she has an infection. Until she can get in to see a dentist there are a few things she can do to help relieve the pain. She can rinse her mouth with hydrogen peroxide (don't swallow). Swish the hydrogen peroxide in the mouth for a minute then spit out. I use this occasionally as a mouthwash and I've diluted it before with a little bit of water.
If you do not have hydro peroxide then you can use mouthwash (the kind that has alcohol), or soak a cottonball with vinegar and then place it on the tooth and gently bite down on the cotton for a minute or two. Rinse vinegar out of mouth afterwards.
DO NOT APPLY HEAT. Heat feels good, but will make the infection grow many x's worse and then the pain will be unbearable.
Ibuprofen helps for the pain also.

sometimes what seems like a tooth ache can be sinus type plug and for that something with camphor in it rubbed on the cheek may relieve it. . If you have watkins red linament you can put it on your finger and rub it on the gum area which can reduce the swelling. Some sit an aspirin on the tooth and crunch down and wait sometimes it works. Camphor is an astringent and you might look up astringent and see if you have a different one than that if you have none, then there is the clove trick, remeber even though it may be infection it is the inflamation that causes the pain.

Then there is yanking it out but I doubt that is of interest but it does work.

She really needs to see a dentist, because if this is a cavity, it could turn into an abcess and require a root canal! My good friend let her toothache go waaay too long, and she ended up in about 10 times as much pain when she finally gave in and saw the dentist. Good luck.

Clove oil - from drug store
or
Double-dose some acetaminophen
or
Keep her drunk until you can get her to dentist

Sometimes a rinse with warm (body-temperature) salt & water mix will sooth, but I'd go with any of the above. Keeping distracted or some self-hypnosis may also help.
