Too much information to share.

In short, there was the formation of new Protestant churches (church of England, Calvinism, Lutheran). In addition, the Catholic Church was reformed, and many new Catholic organizations were formed, like the Jesuits, that vowed to live a life of poverty.

With Protestantism, there will be more of an emphasis on a personal relationship with God, and the idea that one can be saved through faith alone. And because of the printing press, many will own their own Bible, making the Bible, for many, the most important tool in the attempt to live a Christian life.

Also, many Christians will begin to believe that achieving salvation is not about following the sacraments or doing anythings, but rather by opening one's heart to God. Salvation is not something to obtain through effort, but rather something to receive because of God's love for us.

1. Decline of Roman political power and rise of local religious fiefdoms.

2. Elevation of local languages (as the Bible was translated into the languages of the people, allowing education to occur in local language, not just Latin).

3. Further church splintering into small sects and increase of personal responsibility for choosing a religious path.

4. Reform within the Roman Catholic Church to answer the complaints made by the protestants.

The best result was that now you can go to a Baptist church and get saved, and you get a free pass on Judgment Day.

You can sin a little, within reason, and still get into Heaven. You don't need to confess anything.

An added bonus is, if you get saved by a Baptist preacher you are holier than other people.

You live your life knowing you got more prestige than your neighbors -- unless they got saved too, in which case you'll have to base your prestige on your wealth and income.
