Lilith is an interpolated character, seen as Adam's first wife and a demi-angel, that is placed into the story by those who are trying to reconcile the fact that Genesis has two creation myths within its first 4 chapters. Lilith only makes sense to those who need desperately to see the bible as the inerrant word of God. Those who can function without that delusional framework don't have a dilemma to solve with a made up character.

The story of Lillith was never in the Bible. Nor was it in the Scriptures read by the Jewish people before Christ was born.
The earliest mention of Lillith in writing happened sometime in Europe during the middle ages. It was noted at the time that her story was part of a long time oral traditon; meaning it was a story people told each other, and their children, but never wrote it down because there was no Scriptural proof that it was true.
The figure of Lillith was demonized as a justification for the way women were treated in that time and place (the middle ages). The story went that Lillith demanded EQUALITY with Adam because God also made her from the dust and breathed life into her....it said nothing about sexual advances. The medeival story went on to explain that Eve was created by God from Adam's side so that she would always be dependant upon him.
Note that this is the medeival explanation that went along with the oral tradition. There is nothing in the Bible that says any of this.

just go to yahoo's main page and type in Adam and Lilith, you should get a lot of links that will explain the story behind Lilith.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith
Supposedly she was created from the dust of the ground and when Adam told her to submit to him, she would not because she said she was made equal just like him(from the dust of the ground).
She then flew out of the garden of Eden, which God told three angels to go after her and if she refused to come back to every offspring of her would die for every day that she was not in the Garden.(Might I add that she was some kind of demon).
The Lilith story is not at all true, it was never in the Bible and never happened. It is just another way for Satan to try and add things into the Bible to deceive people about creation and woman came from. If you want to read something that is not in the Bible, but is true, then read the Book of Enoch. That book makes more sense than anyother book that was forbidden and taken out of the Bible.
Satan knows the Bible better than anyone here on Earth, He always tries to add things in that are not true, because he knows that people don't know the Bible.

People know the story of Adam and Eve from the Bible.
Lilith is a fictional person and not found in the Bible.
That some beleive in Lilith means that they prefer fiction to truth.

Lilith was indeed mentioned to me when I was a kid, along with Adam and Eve. But she was said to be demonic. I was told that she was Adam's first wife, a tradition mentioned in the Wikipedia entry on Lilith:

I believe that was a left out theory in the bible. There is no mention of her in the King James bible which is the one most of us grew up with. Eve is not supposed to be subservient to Adam, she is to be his help meet, or helper. Even in the new testament when the qualities of a wife are discussed and she is to obey her husband, it is not in a subservient manner but in a manner of wanting him to be happy. It also states that a man is to treat his wife as well as God would treat his bride, the church. If I choose to fix breakfast, lunch and dinner for my husband it has nothing to do with being his servant but everything to do with the fact that I love him and I consider him the head of our household. I imagine that is not the case in all marriages but it works for me.

Because she is not in the canonical text of the Old Testament.
And the whole thing is a story invented by mysogynists, with or without Lilith.

because lilith is an extrabiblical character with no importance to theology. adam and eve are both important to the bible, therefore they make an appearance.
