It is up to the store on a case by case basis but seeing as how it was a month after that the price reduction occured, I believe that they are correct here. If it was to occur only a few days after then there might be a case. There would be no way for them to know that the price would drop by such a large price.
Usually what occurs is that the manufacturers put out a new model of the same product and the retailer reduces the cost of the old model to make way for the newer one. Otherwise, it could be up to higher management to make the decision as to pricing.
They wouldn't have done it to be malicious but you can ask them that the next time you want to buy something they might do you a better deal.
In the electrical retail market, pricing rarely stays the same for products due to the fact that the get superceded and replaced often.
Don't blame the store but do ask them for the best price next time (use cash, folding cash not card) and ask them if this product will be replaced in the near future or if it is new to the market.
Sorry buddy, but you might just have to put this one down to bad timing.
denalbert suggested take it back and get a refund - after a certain length of time, this probably won't be an option as there is only a small window for refunds based on 'change of mind' Unless there is a legit problem they won't do this.
ironstu3 said - tell them it's faulty. Most places will test this before the refund is given Once again they won't just go 'oh of course we'll believe that this expensive tv is faulty just because you say it is, here is your money back'
You can try the old 'changed my mind' approach and see if it works for you. My old company wouldn't, not after a month.
Why don't you ask them to see if they have any bonuses or freebies that they can give you to sweeten the deal. DVD player etc. Or a gift voucher to be spent in store next time?
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
