Well, you have to be fit, physically and mentally for starters. If deciding to enlist, go 18X. Have a good asvab score, not everyone can get special ops like that..... if that wasnt the case, like the devildogg said, go infantry, they will ask for volunteers for either rangers or airborne, take it, then later on, you can put in a request for selection, pass that and your in...... i tell you that rangers is more hardcore physically, but green berets is more mental.....

Physical strength, stamina, and a good head on your shoulders. A degree isn't necessary for anything other than becoming an officer. Most of the time, after you come in and get specialty training you can volunteer to try out for that services' Special Ops

I'm guessing that you aren't in the military. I know that to be special forces in the Marines all you need to do is sign up as an 0311 which is a normal infantryman. After you complete the various schools that you have to go through to be an infantryman you will get the opertunity to try out for it.

If you want to go SF as an officer you are going to have to put some time in as a regular officer. (They will want to see if you are SF material first.)

As foe educational and or background skills - they want you to speak a foreign language. (And not the standard french, German and Spanish - learn Farsi, Arabic, Mandarin, etc.)
