what happens if you hook positve to negative, and the reverse>?

Yes, you can hook them up wrong (i.e. back to the left, left to the right, etc). Nothing will happen if you hook a + to a - UNLESS you are using an amp. If that's the case then you run the chance of blowing your amp.

usually on a stock or cheap after-market radio you wont hear a differene but if you have a higher end radio or amp hooked up you might hear a little noise, if your running some high output then you definitely can blow some of your components. just take your time and go over your wiring to get the right connections or you can look online and find the right hookups to your system or even better you can go down to your local car audio dealer and ask them to help you out, they usually will look it up for right away and print it out or write it down for you in no time. good luck.

Yes you can!
one thing it will do is pop wrong or bass will sound funky and distorted!

If you listen carefully you can hear it!

in good quality speakers there will be some distortion and maybe even some light cackling

in a cheap radio you wont notice
better systems you will get some distortion at higher volumes
