We know she ate them because we found a few pieces and think that we can feel them in her belly. We're very worried and it's late on a Sunday. Anyone have some advice? I'm about to call some vets but I don't think anyone is open.....

No your dog will be ok. She will pass these in the next day or two. I have had pitbull puppies eat socks, even a pair of my underware. They passed both of them . I would keep an eye on her until she passes them, she may need some help. When you see that they are coming out get a pair of gloves and gently, and slowly pull them out.

Hopefully they came apart and are not still on the strand in her belly - if she shows any distress - take her to the vet hospital asap, as they are blocking her intestine - otherwise see if they pass through in the morning - but give the vet a call - watch her very carefully overnight though.

Yes and go ahead and take her to the Vet? Some of the beads may not pass and the vet can make sure she will pass them, best thing you can do beside an enema and if you do that on your own I hope the pup is kept outside....

if they were plastic beads they will probably pass with no problem. However if they were glass, she may need surgery. If the beads were an organic material it would depend on their composition. If the dog doesn't seem to be in distress, and is having regular bowel movements with no bloody stools, and no blood in her mouth. she should be OK till you can call a vet. Show, or describe the remaining beads to him and he will be able to advise you further...Best luck

You should take her to the vet asap. The beads could migrate and get lodged in other organs. Check and call around for after hours emergency vets.

Yes,take her to the vet immediately! The beads can block her intestines and possibly cause the intestines to twist on itself which can lead to constriction of blood flow to the intestines. The intestines will die and that is not a good sign, it is usually fatal if not treated soon!

yes! anything with string can tangle in the intestines, causing death. It is best if the vet can get her to throw it up now, otherwise you will probably be looking at expensive surgery.

most vets have a 24 hour telephone number, they are more or less "on call".

She will be fine. My lab puppy ate razor blades, about 60 mini-reese cups (FOIL INCLUDED) she's been stung by god knows how many things, and she is just as lively as ever. She will be fine. Oh yea. and also 6 bedadryl pills. and she's fine.

However, she's never eaten string. From reading what the other user's posted, just to be safe, I would take her. I didn't know that about string.

If the were glass beads I would take it to the vet asap/but if they were plastic give it 15 ml. mineral oil& they should come right out.

Yes. I have learned that if my house is not in perfect condition (nothing laying around) to crate my dog when I leave... I've even had to rig a special cover for my bookshelves because if nothing is laying around he will take books off the shelves to chew!
