He was married to his first wife for 25 years. She was 15 years older than him. At a time when he could have taken as many wives as he wanted (before the three that Islam set) he stayed only with her.

After she died he took on other wives.
The wife that raises eyebrows was 9 when they became engaged.He did not marry her until after her status of a woman came when she was 11 and had her menstral cycle. When a girl reached child bearing age she could be married.
Think of it this way as well: This was nearly 1500 years ago-- yet in some southern states right here in the US-- girls can marry at 13 years of age. Right here in our country in the present day.

His 10 other wives ranged in ages from 17-37, 6 of them were widows, one of them a freed slave, 2 of them were divorced and many of them had children from previous marraige. He lived in a time when women were property, and men would never consider to marry a woman who had been divorced, widowed, or already had children

There is no doubt that in most countries today it is not acceptable for a 53–year-old man to marry a 9–year-girl. Why? Because it is against the law and against the traditions of the people. He was one of the idol worshipers of the Quraish, who had abandoned her because of her father’s strong position in supporting Islam. What I want to say is that it is unfair to sit in air-conditioning, enjoying popcorn in 2006, and to judge the actions of people who lived 1,400 years ago, in a completely different environment.
You can imagine how a girl would feel if she was abused by an old man. Make sure to keep in mind the words of Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881), a Scottish historian, critic, and sociological writer who said, “The lies, which well-meaning zeal has heaped round this man [Muhammad], are disgraceful to ourselves only.” Many lies were told about God’s Messenger, as well as other messengers and prophets. In addition, our religion tells us that the prophets are the best of mankind, simply because when Allah chose certain people from among His creation, He chose the best.

He is not a child molester. According to Islamic history, even though Prophet Mohammed P.b.u.h married his wife 'Aisyah when she is very young, the Prophet Mohammed Pbuh only have sexual relationship with his wife 'Aisyah after she has attained puberty.

Muslims scholars actually debate the age of Ayesha when Mohammed married her. Some say 6 and the marriage was consumated at 9. Others say married at 9 and not mention of consumation. The truth is, there is very little information to form a theory on, so people will never finalize this debate.

And I am doubtful about your belief that girls can marry at 13 in southern states. You might want to provide a valid link for that.

According to all the texts I read she was 6 when they were married and 9 when it was consumated.

By the laws of virtually every nation in the world that is a serious crime as NO nation allows for marriage under the age of 14 and all major nations consider sex with anyone under 12 a horrendious crime.

Even 11 qualifies.

I have totally understanding of why every girl on this forum isn't outraged about a 50 year old man marrying a 9 year old girl and people then PRAISING this guy.

I tell you what. Let's out law the rape laws and just let ANY guy and girl of any age do whatever they want without restrictions.

Let's release all the child mosters in American Prisons as they are obviously following the wonderful example of Muhammad, who everyone praises!

However I found many descripencies in Bible for example

Exodus 21:7-11
7. "If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free as the male slaves do.
8. "If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign people because of his unfairness to her.
9. "If he designates her for his son [Note: "his son" means that the master is either her father's age or even much older!], he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.
10. "If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights.
11. "If he will not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.

First of all, did the daughter have any choice to be sold off by her father, married off by her master to either himself or his son? No!

Also, the fact that the master can either marry her or marry her off to his son, means that MOST LIKELY, SHE IS HIS DAUGHTER'S AGE and younger than his son!! So he's probably at least 30+ years older than her. Yet, he himself (her father's age or even MUCH older) can marry her.

the problem is that we compare the standards in that old time with now . ayeshe was the daughter of AbuBakr . en Abubakr himself asked Muhmmad to marry his daughter . in arabia refusing to marry a girl from a famous clan meant starting a war where as accepting it meant to start a life-time friendship. so muhammad had to accept his offer . nine year-old girls 1400 years ago was like today's twenty year-old ladies.

en history says ayeshe was satisified with this marriage .

Read the story again. She freely writes that she was six years old when she was married to Mohammaad. He was kind enough not to rape her until she was nine.
