The LCD screen probably went out. Its common for anything that has a Liquid Crystal Display. It can be caused by exposure to extreme heat, which is the most common. Sometimes they just go out, no reason really. Does your camera have a viewfinder? If so, you may have hit a button on the camera to turn off the LCD screen and use the viewfinder, which would make the LCD screen black.

Read the manual. You might have turned off the viewer. Then try the manufacturer. If it is a recent purchase, take it back to where you bought it from. If they can't get it to work, ask for a new replacement. If it is not recent, but is still under warranty, you may have to send it back to the manufacturer.

I could tell you all sorts of things and they would probably be wrong.

Therefore, I suggest you go here, http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_product.asp?id=957, for all questions about that particular camera.
