YES we do!
of course theirs always that one bouncer who thinks if he lets the girl get in he is gonna get laid! *idiot*
I work for alcohol compliance (seasonal) And I DO. I think of it like this, one of my main places I watch Is a MULTI -MILLION dollar event complex, and I don't want to be the guy who Fuc**D that up!
See your average bar gets a few warnings before they get hit with a license suspension, well we get NO warnings, 1 mess up and we lose or liqueur license! again I don't want to be the idiot that got a HUGE venue shut down, see what I mean.
So Yes I (we) actually look I look for certain features Like a smile that you cant change! I usually say something stupid or funny to achieve this.
Hope this helped

I'm not a bouncer but I can tell you alot of it depends on the club. I had one club I went into where I presented a valid ID and they accused me of giving them a fake ID so I pulled out my military ID and they STILL accused me so then I pulled out my SS card to compare against the driver's license and military ID before convincing them it WAS me and I WAS over the age of 21. Then other times I've handed my ID to a bouncer and they just glanced and said "go ahead". Clearly they didn't even look at the photo.

Sometimes they do, but it's not their job to. It's the job of the bouncer to ensure that everyone allowed inside of the club/bar/venue presents ID, not to investigate whether or not it's actually the right person. I know in my younger days I was given the boot a time or two using a friends ID who actually looked a lot like me, but usually it worked.

There is a huge liability for a bar or club to serve an underage person. What some clubs have started to do is to scan Drivers Licenses so they have a computerized record of who visits the club. he system will catch any illegal ID's. What it wont do is catch a valid ID that belongs to someone else. So bouncers still have to keep alert to possible fraud.

Depends on the place. Some just look at the age. Other places are REALLY diligent about checking everything. Most places in big cities will at least give it a look so it needs to be SOMEWHAT accurate. But, everyone can change a little bit if the picture isn't perfect, so it's hard for them to tell. Usually if they think the picture is not that accurate, they'll just ask for back up I.D. or a question like, you're address, etc. Some places just let girls in easier, but it can even depend on who is working the door that night.

My friend was charged with felony false ID because a bouncer took it and gave it to a cop. Every club is different.

I live in ca. It depends on the owners license. At the Yard house any age can enter before 8:30 and stay as long as you like. They use the wristbands for 21 and over. So it just depends were you go.
