why does my tape pop back out in a few seconds after I push play. It wont FF or Rewind either just ejects, tryed several tapes new and used.

You probably had a drive belt break so the tape won't move through the machine. It thinks the tape is jammed in the cartridge, so it ejects it.

The belts are cheap -- $1 or $2 -- but the labor isn't. Unless you feel like doing it yourself, it'll probably be cheaper to get a new VCR.

It sounds like the speed dubb reader. If you use or used a multitude of tape speeds it has effected the Dubb tracking, esp/sp/ep etc:.. Cheapest thing is to replace it. Also remember that using the VCR to rewind a tape reduces the life of the VCR.
