I don't know her very well as she works in a completely different sector at work - I fix the computers and she has something to do with the grounds. What I do know about her is that she is kind of a tree hugger (i.e into conservation and everything), that she likes bird watching and I've also heard a few stories about her wild parties and heavy drinking sessions, but that's all I've got on her. My budget is £5 and my deadline for getting a present is this Friday can anyone help me out? - Best suggestion gets the usual amount of points and a big thanks from me!

Lush actually do a gift set called secret santa, for exactly £5 - it's got some lemony soap called "Happy soap" and shower gel called "Happy Hippy" - sounds pretty close to ideal to me, as Lush is ethical, etc.

You cannot go wrong when you don't know much about a person, by getting them some cologne or perfume. Since she is a tree hugger so to speak then check out ones that are made from real flowers and good for the environment... nothing in an aerosol !!!

Happy Giving !

Why do you HAVE to buy a gift?
When I have had this ridiculous practice suggested to me at work, I have made it very clear that I am not prepared to take part.
However, you have a dilemma. Go to Oddbins or Thresher and buy her a gift voucher.
Otherwise you could do the same thing from Boots or Smiths and not have to make a decision about the ACTUAL present.
And next year, save yourself the hassle and JUST SAY NO.

Get her some toiletries from somewhere like the shop "Lush". Everything is handmade and organic and smells delicious! The best thing are the bath bombs, the bubble bars and the massage bars. I think they even do pre-wrapped gift boxes so you don't even have to pick them out.

Some suggestions: gift cards/certificates/vouchers for a local bird store (bird feed, etc.)

Gift card to a local restaurant

A gift basket: mug, tea bags, coffee, etc. Maybe some chocolate, etc.

A gift basket: with bath stuff- like shower gel, bubble bath, lotion, etc. (sort of a pampering gift)

A nice fleece blanket.

Tickets, or gift cards to a local movie or theatre production.

Hope these help!

Go to a used book store and buy a copy of an out of print bird identification book. She will appreciate the effort and receiving a book she couldn't easily find for herself.

I would go to a garden centre and buy her an orchid. You can add some tinsel and mistletoe and spray snow to get in the spirit of things. Good luck. You could do with spending a little more really......

Go to Asda and get a rose tree for £2.97, a pack of bird seed for 79p and you should have enough for a bottle of beer with the change, good luck.
