Is it illegal for an 18 year old boy to date a 15 year old girl?

I know the obvious about the sex thing but if they are not doing that, is it illegal just to be dating? Does anyone know??



Ok, the deal here is that I am the mom of the 15 year old. The boy, who is only 17 right now but will be 18 in March, is a really cool kid. He's very respectful to me and her and their relationship seems to be going very well, without sex. My daughter and I talk a lot so I know. But her stepdad keeps telling me this is illegal in March.

It is not illegal for an 18 old to date a 15 year old. It is illegal for an 18 year old to sleep with a 15 year old in some states. In some states it is legal once the girl turns 16. Do not forget that your daughter will be closer to 16 by March.

Sex with a girl under the legal age in any given state is called statutory rape. There is no law in any state against dating without sex for a girl of any age.

it is not illegal, as long as they dont have sex. what you need to do is sit down with the boy and your daughter and talk about it. now when your daughter turns 16, she is of consenting age, at least that is how it is in Oklahoma. just keep track of them and talk to them about it.

I'd be careful as if another parent gets mad about something, they can press charges, or at least attempt to press them even if they aren't having sex.
