I'm warning you, this is a bit gross... Anyway, she meows alot almost like she's humming to herself, she'll be REALLY affectionate, and sometimes she'll rub her rear against the ground and other stuff, almost like she's waddling.

My cat experienced her first heat last week. (She is getting spayed next week, she went into heat before I could spay her). I first realized she was in heat because she became super lovey-dovey, constantly coming over for snuggles, staying in my arms forEVER, sleeping right next to me at night. She also started rolling around on the ground quite a bit. Rather than get up and walk from room to room, she would flop over on her side or back and wriggle from place to place. Finally, she would stretch her entire body out on the floor except for her butt -- she would stick it in the air and tread the ground with her back paws, basically begging me to do her or help her. There was a clear discharge coming from her vagina that did not smell, though it did get on the furniture and my skin from time to time. My cat did not meow loudly, only groan, and she did not start spraying the house. She also did not try to get out of the house or have any interest in the windows or doors -- not more than usual. It was very sad to watch her go through this -- spay soon.

Firstly, the reactions differ from a male and female feline. If your kitty is a female, she will have heat cycles that occur with frequent regularity. She will start to become very restless and vocal (groan, howl loudly), and will often roll about on the floor, and stretch out with her bottom reared up. If she doesn't mate with a male, this cycle can last for up to 10 days and start again soon after. My advice is to bring her to a vet and get her spayed. In doing so, you not only eliminate the problem, but spaying also helps prolong your kitty's life and lower her risk of ovarian cancer. If it is a male cat in heat, he will start to spray and mark his territory about the house (you will have to contend with lots of clean ups), or if there is a female cat aroud, he might try to jump her (usually by trying to get a hold of the female's neck by biting and getting ready to mate). Do get him neutered too as it too prolongs his life expectancy of up to 20 years in some cases. Good luck!!

If your cat starts acting REALLY weird like sticking her bum in the air and rubbing her head against every thing and purring AND meowing and it will REALLY want to go out side.

Your female cats will suddenly just lay on the floor and not do anything. The boys, they just smell... don't get your female cat fixed though, cause they get nasty afterward and tend to hate you.

She will make silly noises put her rear end up and wiggle. She will be very lovable and down right silly. She will do anything to get out and watch her because they are very quick! I'd take her to the Vet right away and get her spayed before she does get out.
