Hello David

Golf is a game of honesty and integrity, it is the only sport that one calls a penalty on themselves even when playing alone. Golf teaches ettequette, manors and respect for others and for the game its self.
It is one of the few games you can play poorly and still enjoy it and its a game for all ages, even some blind folks play golf.

In short, golf is good.

I have been searching for the answer to this question for years. I have done countless hours of research and have finally come to the conclusion that there is no answer. Why would anybody choose golf for their hobby anyway? I will admit, I once was addicted to the game of golf. With some professional help and many years of therapy, I was cured. If I can do it, so can you. Just remember, it is not easy though. I still have flashbacks to this day. Just keep your head up and drive on.

I agree with all the previous answers, but the best aspect about golf is the people you are able to meet. With the explosion in the popularity of golf, people of all backgrounds are taking up the game. People who genuinely respect the game of golf tend to be people who value the same virtues in their everyday lives. Take Tiger Woods for example. He works extremely hard at his golf game, but also works hard to improve our community. (You should check out his 60 Minutes interview with Ed Bradley) Also, people who have not played golf cannot understand why so many play this crazy game of hitting a white little ball into a smaller white hole. To really understand the joy of playing golf, you have to experience it for yourself. Golf addicts know exactly what I am talking about. That feeling is so hard to explain. No matter how frustrating the game is, no matter how much you want to snap every club in your bag during a bad round, the next day you want to be on the links again.

Golf is one of the few sports that anyone can play and excel at. You don't have to be 6ft plus and over 200 lbs. Doesn't matter if your old or young. Doesn't matter if your fat or skinny. Doesn't matter if your male or female. Anyone can play the game. When your out on the course you are equal to everyone else. The deciding factor is truly skill and luck.

Golf is a game of self-knowledge. It forces you to be true to yourself. The better players know THEIR strengths and THEIR weakness. They've learned to manage their game within those boundaries and expand on their skills as they master themselves. It's just like life. It's the best game of life.

I like it because I get to spend some time with my son, outside, doing something we both enjoy. Plus with golf, the only person that you are truly competing with is yourself.
