stray dogs?

okay stray dogs(ALOT!) have been getting in my trash out side...i go and try to feed them but they wont come to me they just stare and run away if someone is good at getting dogs to come to you please give a helpful answer!!!!!!!

well, you have to be aware of the tone in your voice. it needs to be a friendly one, and when you call them have some kind of treat for them in your hand. but, be careful because not all dogs are friendly and you don't want to get attacked. and, to keep them out of your trash, try a trash can with a lockable lid, that way the dogs can't knock it over. It should keep the raccoons out too!

Since i was little i always loured in stray dogs and cats. Try leaving the dog food by your house while you are not there, so they know its okay to come close to your house. Then try sitting outside, not approaching them, just sitting, and letting them get used to you being there. Still have the dog food, or something that smells good, like hot dogs or turkey with you. Hopefully they will eventually come up to you. It will take some time though. Then you can either try to find their owners, adopt them, or take them to your local animal shelter. And if this doesn't help, try calling your animal shelter to catch them, they are trained to do this. Good Luck!

Put some dog food next to your trash or spray your trash with bitter apple.....dogs hate the smell and taste. It's a spray you can get at pet stores.

KNY is right - a pack of feral dogs is a bad thing.

If they're just neighborhood dogs, sprinkle cayenne pepper on your garbage. Or if you have cats, scoop their box and make sure the scooped litter is on top of any food in the garbage. You can also hold your food scraps in the freezer until garbage day.

Call your animal control department and get them picked up. Stray dogs can form a pack and become aggressive.
