the pain down your leg is irritation to your sciatic nerve in your lower back. you may have a protruding disk. see a doctor as soon as possible. for the time being, put a heating pad on your lower back, lay with legs propped up, take aleve or advis and don't lift anything

Go and see your Doctor! There are many causes of lower back pain and sciatica which is the cause of the pain in the leg. Take Ibuprofen or if you haven't those try paracetamol. Use a heated pad against your back. A wrapped hot water bottle if you have one! Or you may find an ice pack works better for you. Some people find alternating between the two helps.
Sleep on your side if you can, and draw your legs up. Bent legs take pressure off the back! you could try a heated pad during the day. Go to the chemist for them. They stick to your skin and are thin enough to be discreet. Hope these tips help.

depends on your age.

My mom has sciatic pain in back and legs caused by arthritis. the pain management doctor said it was from swelling in her back which puts pressure on the sciatic nerve. He gave her pain meds which did nothing but mask the pain and make her non-functioning.. Because she is 96, they wouldn't consider anything but pain meds to make her comfortable( which they didn't do!)

I found an herbal pill that actually reduced the swelling and she feels a lot better.....pain meds are reduced drastically!

I sympathise, I've had that a few times. Its just a trapped nerve, you need to go to the doctors so he/she can give you the leaflet on exercises to help it. But keep moving so the muscles are kept loose, have hot baths. Exercises basically involves lying flat on your front on a hard surface and lifting your front up using your arms to stretch the lower back, and also lying on your back with your legs raised on a chair or something. And get some gorgeous being to massage ya too if you're lucky!

Its sciatica. Get physio for it before it cripples you. I ended unable to even get out of bed for a while before I got the proper treatment. Thankfully I am OK now and walking again, but I still have pain which I have learnt to cope with...;

It sounds like sciatica. You probably have a bulging disc or similar problem. I would suggest you go to your doctor for x-rays and see if he recommends physical therapy. There are certain exercises you can do that are helpful like laying on your back and bringing your knees to your chest or laying on your back with knees bent and raising only your pelvis off the floor. Anything you can do to strengthen your abs and lower back and thighs and buttocks are helpful. Go to therapy and find out what these exercises are and do them religiously each day.

this sounds like sciatica I suggest you see your doctor and try to get advice and a referral to see a physiotherapist it could also be a trapped nerve no one could say for sure without seeing you. But good luck and i hope you get it sorted
