depends on the age of the child, if the child is very young and has not been introduced to different materials and ways to use them they may get lost in the shuffle but a child ages 3 and older have usually at least been introduced to a greater variety of materials and uses for them and reggio allows them to make and use more items creatively, but in some areas of the classroom reggio needs to be taken into retrospective (look before you leap approach)
my personal favorite item of reggio programs is the detailed record keeping of a childs progress in the program starting with pictures of classroom time and finally ending with the more sophisticated writing, drawings and variety of pre k testing before the child graduates to kindergarten or other forms of schooling.
I only participated in a reggio program for a little over a year but it was good

The Reggio Approach is great because the children are learning about things they are interested in. It is very creative , lots of art, using different mediums. Also this approach encourages lots of sharing of ideas.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!! It is an awesome approach that encourages creativity and individuality and inspires self-confidence in children. I've never visited there, but my university advisor has and I've seen her slide presentation about it. Absolutely amazing - I wish I could build a centre just like theirs!
Have you read Hundred Languages of Children? It's very inspiring.
