Perhaps mankind would be better if people like you would stop trying to antogonize other people who think differently than you.

If you don't believe in God then why hang out in a Q&A area about religion and spirituality?

I have found that people like you like to try and start fights with religious people because you know that religious people will usually not retaliate. They will turn the other cheek. Seems a bit cowardly to me.

I think mankind would be better off if people like you had a little respect for others.

Man kind would be better off if people didnt discriminate other religions and think they're religion or lact there of is better than any other. Just because you dont have a religion, doesnt mean a religious persons dieties arent real. And even so, who are you to say they are or arent. No one has that right. Not even you.

No. The fear of retribution from those 'silly little deities' keep most of those 'religious folk' from committing crimes against me.

Mankind would be better off if the 'religious folk' and the die-hard atheist/agnostics would lay off each other and agree to disagree. I've always believed that to ignore and to fight over our differences is less effective than to exercise tolerance.

And if THAT seems idealistic and impractical, riddle me this. How realistic and practical is it to wish for a worldwide cessation of religious practice and belief?

Absolutely, but who do you suggest we put in place of the True God if in fact he exhists--I believe he does.

You can try & put rock stars, athletes, church leaders, humanitarians, politician etc.- but will that work?

Just look at our body and its systems and ask why do these functions work?
Did the doctor hook me up to a maching, open my body cavity up and start putting in our Nervous, reproductive, muscular systems etc. together. Did my mother & father sit down & create a blueprint as to how strong I could be or how tall I would be?

You are right all gods are silly little things, but somebody put it all together for us-so these all are with 1 exception, the God of the Bible.

This is His claim :

*** Rbi8 Psalm 96:4-5 ***

4 For Jehovah is great and very much to be praised.
He is fear-inspiring above all [other] gods.

5 For all the gods of the peoples are valueless gods;
But as for Jehovah, he has made the very heavens."

Evolution cannot explain away the idea of a higher intelligent being, as many noteworthy scientists , like Einstein, Warner Von Brawn, Issac Newton openly attested to. The teachings of the pseudo-science evolution, fits in the same category with the teachings by religions that do not stict to the Bibles , doctrines, teachings, order of things, history & science when referred to.

Again, there is always a first cause in anything invented, we can try to deny The Maker of all the energy & matter in the universe, with whom then will we replace him. There has to be a logical summation to any arguement. If we can't find one, other than God then we need to do what Conan Doyle suggested- throught Sherlock H. (paraprased) 'if we eliminate all the ideas and find only one left , than as improbable as it might seem(to us ) that is the answer'.

Maybe. But mankind is pretty much okay in spite of all of the religions through history. People are the way they are, because that's what it took to get us here. And so far we have actually done pretty well, imo. Progress is still being made. Everybody just needs to chill a little.

It wouldn't be as beneficial as one might think. For some people, the only reason they don't commit crimes or act badly is because they're afraid of persecution by their deity when they die or because they feel they are sinning by doing so. Also, even if religion didn't exist, the crazy people of the world would still find things to fight about. It might seem like a good answer, but it's not a good quick fix.

First of all, what gives you the right to decide what is real and what is "made up"? If someone wants to worship a religion, they are free to do so, no matter what people like you might think.
No, it wouldn't be better off because people need something to believe in. If all we can believe in is society and politics, then we're screwed because humanity is flawed.
Have you also noticed that countries who do not allow freedom of religion usually (not always) end up in communism, or something similar?

Dieties? I don't even think the folks at Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers worship their dieties..Most of them probably hate them, not worship them, but what do I know?

The sabbath became for Israel in biblical circumstances in basic terms. word that Abraham, Isaac, nor Jacob had to. The regulation became given to Moses for the Israelites in basic terms at that factor. Later, in view that Christians weren't below Moses' regulation because of the fact With Christ the regulation became fulfilled, there became no could desire to stick to it. for this reason the Bible says at Romans 10:4: “Christ is the tip of the regulation, so as that each and every person exercising habitual faith could have righteousness." The sabbath became area of the regulation. With Christ, the regulation ended. because of the fact the sabbath became area of the regulation, then the sabbath additionally got here to a end. Being "righteous" and having good status and faith in front of God is what's going to supply us eternal existence, and not retaining a sabbath.

No...I think when worshiping a god doesn't get out of control then it's fine and even healthy for some people.

Just like with everything else going to the extreme is always bad.

I'm an atheist.
