Fleas bite people, too. So, it's lifespan would be probably the average lifespan of a flea.

The flea doesn't need a pet to survive, you'll do quite nicely in a pinch. The eggs can sit unhatched for months and months if that is what they need to do. Most people associate fleas with pets only because pets are available hosts and easy for the flea to live on.

the eggs of fleas, they say, can live up to a year in an empty house. Then we warm-bodied, carbon-dioxide exhaling folk move in and they hatch out. Luckily you can spray stuff to kill the eggs.

they feed on (yuk!) the faeces left behind by the adult fleas. So if you can properly vacuum your floors each week it will be a great help. There is an egg-killer you can put into your vacuum cleaner so they are killed immediately.

Long enough untill you kill it., it can multiply. There Are Two Ways I Know. Drowning them and Smoking your house with those flea cans for like 4 hours.

Fleas have been known to breed and live in dirt, even when there are not pets around. So even if you have no pets, you can go through an annual "infestation", mostly in the summer.

Fleas don't like humans very much, we don't have fur for them to hang on to. But they will bite you. A good, inexpensive, non-toxic way to get rid of them is to purchase diatomaceous earth (also called D Earth) from your local hardware store and sprinkle it all over your floors. Leave it there for a couple of hours and then vacuum it up. Empty your vacuum bag or canister outside and they will all be gone.

Fleas live on mammals, of which human beings are an example. If you don't spray aggressively, you'll have them forever. It won't matter how long any of them live as long as one of them lives long enough to shed eggs & for them to hatch.

And launder your bedding thoroughly AND treat your pets, as applicable.

modify) Foggers are helpful.
