Being Italian I dont measure or use recipes- but I just made 10 lbs of mashed pototoes forThanksgiving and can try to estimate for you. Always mash the potatoes a little but with the mixer first before adding anything . Then heat about 2 C milk in microwave to get warm. Start with one stick of osftened butter and add half of the milk. Mix some more. Then go by consistency and taste and add more butter and milk until smooth and creamy. You want them to stick together but not be dry. You maybe very well end up with about 3 C of milk and 2 sticks of butter before you are done but it will be well worth it. Also, for flavor, always add salt to the water while boiling the potatoes and again when mixing, add salt and pepper to taste. For a nice treat, add some garlic salt for garlic mashed potatoes. Everyone loves them ! Sorry I dont have exact measures but basically it is warm milk, softened butter and salt and pepper- just keep mixing and adding till it is just right!

Holy crap thats a lot of mashed potatoes! Well, it's really a matter of taste. I would guess two sticks of butter (a cup) and maybe 2 1/2 cups of milk.

2 or more sticks butter for that many potatoes and add milk while mashing them to see how much you need, it varies. I always add salt and pepper, but cream cheese added is also VERY good!

salt and pepper milk till it looks not too dry not too wet and butter to taste. I say you can never have too much butter, I would use at least 1 stick.
