Try: www.byki.com, it's a software composed of sentences which are somehow limited but it's a good starting point because, there is the pronunciation for each word and sentence.

There is one for free online called "Bonjour" which has about one hundred everyday phrases which are spoken by a French woman and has space and time for you to imitate sounds at your own pace...
You can start easily that way. It has the letters of the alphabet which are pronounced differently from letters of the English alphabet, and numbers.. days of the week, months of the year, and various other useful phrases ... including things like "I would like to have a baby with you." Now, to me that phrase seems a little advanced with respect to importance .... but, what do I know? I'm not French. Otherwise, it prepares you for things like calling the police when someone snatches something from you ... and less traumatic things, like asking for
accomodations, food , etc. Try to understand the French... they are wonderful!
The last time I checked, it had a link with another free website, without
audio... you could try if you want, but personally I would not... find
sound. It is a very different language
and there is no way to guess at it. There probably is a reference to something affordable ...
You should try the Alliances Francaises which is really quite
reliable, to say the least.
Happy Holidays!

I'm not sure what you are exactly looking for, but hearing the pronunciations is very important.
There is an inexpensive set of CD's and a coursebook that I learned from and I got it at Barnes and Noble. It's called the "Living Language" series.
It's easy and has everything you would need to use to prepare for a visit.
Here's the link to check it out! It's about $20.00

You could also rent it from your nearest library.
Good luck , relax, and have fun with it!!

Rosetta Stone is the best. Visit their website. It is expensive, but you may be able to find it used on ebay or some other auction site.
