If God blesses you with a spiritual gift and it's not something you are comfortable with is it wrong to ask him to take it back? I.E. speaking in tongues ,prophesying?

I've done it.
However, I recognize that He has infinitely superior wisdom than me, so I have simply asked Him to hold it until I'm ready for it...& to prepare me to use it correctly.

Speaking in tongues and prophecy are not spiritual gifts, that is wrong interpretation by pentacostals. Read the Bible on your own and stay away from those teachings and you will be a much more solid Christian and accomplish more for Christ.
Did you know that the phrase "spiritual gifts" does not even exist in the Bible from cover to cover? It has been written in by the translators. Why shoud you get all hung up on a doctrine that has been writen into the Bible mostly in the last 30 - 40 years. When I was a kid, we never heard of it, it wasn't in the Bible then.

God blesses many people with different gifts. And I think that it is really awesome if you have one. My dad speaks in tounges and I know of some pastors who prophesy things. I guess If it something that scares you like bad visions or something like that you could ask for help with it, so that you would like to have it and gain comfort and understanding in your gift that you can become a more powerfull asset to God and his people to lead them to his great glory or save them from disaster I hope this helps.

no one is ever "Comfortable" with the gifts given that we do not understand however are you so sure it is from GOD? No one much these days speaks prophesying. There is no one that I know of that can fortell the future of man. A man maybe...certain events ok...but men in general I have not heard of yet... No matter what language. If it be true with regards to men....Seek the proper authorities (and you would know what I mean)...if not wonder were they came from and what they are.

The Gifts of the Spirit stopped after the death of the Apostles.

The activity is spiritistic in our day and does not originate with God.

"Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. 9 For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; 10 but when that which is complete arrives, ((the completed Bible)) that which is partial will be done away with. " 1 Cor 13:8-10

"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works." 2 Cor 11:13-15

You are lucky. I only got to speak in Tongues, once and that' the night I fully accepted Him as Lord of my life.
Ask God, through His Son, Jesus Christ to guide you and help you obtain the comfort level. He will.
More & more people need to hear the Gospel of our Lord & Saviour, especially now, and now that Christmas is around the corner.
God uses each of us in HIS way, not ours. He will show you how, perhaps talk to your Minister for more understanding & guidance in this area of your life.

Best of luck & God Bless.

God knows your needs and would never give you something that he thought you would not be comfortable with!
