My grandaughter is having a Clifford birthday party and wanted to make red cupcakes. I dont know if red vekvet is something kids will like and eat.

Red velvet cake tastes wonderful. I had that for my wedding cake. I think the kids will be fine with it. To me it really tasted like the regular cake mix but just colored red. I think that is a neat idea to make clifford. Hope all goes well

Red Velvet cake has tons of red food dye in it, so that's pretty much what it tastes like. You may be better off to make a white cake mix and add just enough food coloring to give it a good red color. It would also be a more true red. Red velvet is a brownish red.
You could also get a dog-bone shaped cookie cutter and make sugar cookies with red sprinkles!

There's nothing unusual about the taste. Sometimes red velvet cake can be dry though -- which is really unfortunate. If you are making one, try to find a recipe that says it will make a moist red velvet cake.

word of advice: be careful when preparing it...once that mix gets wet, that red food coloring that's in it stains EVERYTHING it gets on, to include countertops ect. I always make a red velvet cake for our company's Christmas party.

Oh I think they will... I've seen kids eat red velvet and love it like all other cakes =-)
Kids love sweets anyway.
It's hard to describe taste, you know... go ahead and make it is all I can tell you, they'll appreciate it
Might want to put icing on it though like all other cakes

it has a rich chocolate taste...and is YUMMY and I think kids would LOVE it!
However...be careful..red dye tends to cause hyperactivity in children...you may not want to serve the cake until they are ready to leave...send them home all pumped up, but you don't want them that pumped while you have them.
