You can try finding one of the bed in a bag deals for the comforter set.. Brylanehome.com has alot of nice stuff and sometimes you can find a set for 30.00. For the walls you could buy some inexpensive bulletin boards and paint the frames if you like. Fill the boards with pictures of the 2 of you, mementos from places you have been, maybe even some stems of silk flowers from the dollar store. My college aged daughter did this with her first college apartment and it is really cute..and personalized..she even has a clear vase with flower petals from flowers her boyfriend sent.

Well, you could start off by buying the paint. If you want shades of brown, then I suggest you buy a dark shade and a light shade that you like. Then, if need be, you can mix a little of both in another container to achieve other shades...maybe for borders, or around windows, etc.
Once you have your walls painted, you can use the paint left over for old furniture. Either your own, or pick up some used stuff at garage sales, auctions, etc.
Check out sales at fabric stores. You might be able to find something to make your window treatments with....And also, if you have an old comforter beginning to wear, you could find some material with a pattern you like (something that washes easily) and cover the old one with it. Whallah! A fresh look! Other nick nacs for decorating, again, can often be found at home, or at sales/auctions, second-hand stores, etc.
Just a couple ideas! Good luck!

try going to big lots if you have it out there, I went there to decorate my first apartment and didnt spend all that much money. Also check out all the sales in the local stores, even department stores have good sales every now and then especially this time of year. Also try going to the fabric store you could even come up with your own ideas of what you want to make and get some really cute fabric to use, and itd be way cheaper! and plus youd be the only one whod have it!
